What is a PCI-X backplane?

PCI-X or PCI extended is a parallel communication bus based on the 32-bit PCI topology. PCI-X extends the PCI bus by doubling system bandwidth to a maximum of 133MHz, increasing a computer’s fault tolerant capability and supporting both PCI-X and newer 3.3V or dual 5V/3.3V PCI cards on the same communication bus.

If you’re in the market for a PCI-X/PCI backplane, check out Trenton’s BP1/1/2/4/4. The backplane’s reliable technologies feature multi-layer construction, auxiliary power connectors and both PCI X and PCI slots for option cards.

Trenton backplanes are used by military organizations, communication companies and medical manufactures that require reliable computing in demanding environments. We offer a no-risk, 30-day evaluation of off-the-shelf products and a comprehensive two-year warranty for custom backplane products.
