TRENTON Technology Introduces Five New PICMG® 1.3 Backplanes
New Trenton PICMG 1.3 Backplanes Support Multiple SHB Segments and PCI Express, PCI-X and PCI Option Cards Atlanta, GA –Trenton is pleased to announce the availability of five new PICMG® 1.3 backplanes that support SHB Express system host boards and a variety of PCI Express (PCIe), PCI-X and PCI option cards. These five new backplanes include the BP6FS6605 which features six flexible system host board segments capable of supporting graphics-class or server-class PCI Express slot configurations. "Graphics-glass PICMG 1.3 backplanes and system host boards provide a x16 PCI Express electrical link to accommodate high-end video or graphics card applications,” explained Jim Renehan, Director of Marketing at Trenton. “Trenton’s BP6FS6605 backplane expands on this concept by providing six SHB segments with each segment capable of supporting a x16 PCIe link and each segment can operate independently or over an Ethernet fabric built into the backplane." Trenton’s BPG6615, BPX6610, BPG6714 and BPX6719 backplane configurations support additional PCIe, PCI-X and PCI card slots. Trenton’s PICMG 1.3 compatible backplanes have all of the power supply connections, including +12V AUX, on the backplane for increased reliability and faster Mean Time To Repair (MTTR). All Trenton backplanes are engineered to ensure that controlled impedance conditions exist regardless of the application’s option card loading requirements. The specific slot configurations of Trenton’s BP6FS6605, BPG6615, BPX6610, BPG6714 and BPX6719 backplanes are as follows: BP6FS6605 – Multi-Segment PCI Express Backplane The BP6FS6605 has six-system host board (SHB) segments designed to accommodate SHBs with low-profile heat sinks such as Trenton’s TML or SLT. Each segment contains a x16 PCI Express mechanical slot and three of the segments also include a x8 PCIe mechanical slot. The backplane’s SHB segments can operate independently of each other or as a network of SHBs by virtue of the backplane’s optional Ethernet fabric network. The fabric option enables the backplane and it’s SHBs to operate in cluster computing applications. This 20-slot form factor backplane offers a variety of power connection options. Standard ATX/EPS power connections are supported as well as a terminal block connection method. The segments can be powered individually or grouped together to share a common power source. The optional terminal blocks and the backplane’s on-board voltage regulation optimizes shared power configurations. BPG6615 – Graphics-class PCI Express Backplane The 14-slot form factor of Trenton’s BPG6615 backplane is designed for applications with a x16 PCI Express card and additional PCIe and PCI-X or universal PCI option cards. The BPG6615 backplane supports a graphics-class PICMG 1.3 system host board, one x16 and four x8 PCI Express card slots. A total of six PCI-X card slots are featured that also support universal PCI option cards. The SHB provides a x4 PCIe link to a PCI Express fan out switch to connect the four x8 PCIe mechanical slots to the SHB. Another x4 link from the fan out switch drives a PCI Express-to-Dual Channel PCI-X bridge chip that supports two 64-bit/100MHz and four 64-bit/66MHz PCI-X card slots. BPX6610 – Server-class PCI Express Backplane The 14-slot form factor of Trenton’s BPX6610 backplane is designed for applications with PCI Express and PCI-X or universal PCI option cards. The BPX6610 backplane supports a server-class PICMG 1.3 system host board and has one x16 and five x8 PCIe card slots plus six PCI-X card slots that also support universal PCI option cards. The x16 slot and one of the x8 PCIe slots are driven directly from the SHB with x8 PCIe links. The SHB also provides a x4 PCIe link to a PCI Express fan out switch to connect x4 links to the remaining four x8 PCIe mechanical slots. Another x4 link from the fan out switch drives a PCI Express-to-Dual Channel PCI-X bridge chip that supports two 64-bit/100MHz and four 64-bit/66MHz PCI-X card slots. BPG6714 – Graphics-class PCI Express Backplane Trenton’s BPG6714 is a small form factor backplane designed for applications with a x16 PCIe card, an additional x1 or x4 PCIe card and three PCI-X or universal PCI option cards. The BPG6714 backplane supports a graphics-class PICMG 1.3 system host board. The x16 PCIe slot is driven with a x16 link from the SHB and the x8 slot is driven by a x1 or x4 PCIe link from the PCI Express expansion slot. The three PCI-X card slots also support universal PCI option cards and are configured as one 64-bit/133MHz and two 64-bit/100MHz PCI-X card slots. BPX6719 – Server-class PCI Express Backplane Trenton’s BPX6719 is a small form factor backplane designed for applications with two x8 PCIe cards, an additional x1 or x4 PCIe card and three PCI-X or universal PCI option cards. The BPX6719 backplane supports a server-class PICMG 1.3 system host board. The backplane’s x16 and one of the x8 mechanical PCIe slots are driven with x8 links from the SHB and the remaining x8 mechanical slot is driven by either a x1 or x4 PCIe link from the PCI Express expansion slot. The three PCI-X card slots also support universal PCI option cards and are configured as one 64-bit/133MHz and two 64-bit/100MHz PCI-X card slots.
